The products of the reactions ethylene oxide with fatty alcohols, acids and amines are great industrial importance. They include surfactants, plasticizers insecticides. can be generally represented as oligomerization. Interaction between alcohols proceed in presence acidic well basic catalysts; main distinction being quantitative distribution reaction products. In catalysts rate increases molecular weight polyaddition have a wide weights. Most information available comes from investigated uses homogeneous bases catalysts. Research on use solid this area is comparatively recent. Heterogeneous catalysts, such synthetic zeolites, better known acid well-defined sites able to display properties over pH range, whilst retaining insolubilty thermal stability, little known. This work described herein studies two microporous titanosilicates, ETS-4 ETS-10. Determinations surface basicity were also carried out by following titration method. titanosilicates examined for ethoxylation glycol. One-parameter experiments showed that processes observed had first-order dependence concentrations catalyst. excess alcohol present was assumed lead concentration confirmed basic. interaction proton donor agent proceeds through tri-molecular transition state. activated C-O bond opened nucleophilic attack; similar mechanism an SN2 replacement. Titanosilicates very effective organic synthesis processes.
